One thing that we discussed in class is how Tom is an idiot. He tries to say things and sound smart, but they backfire. He's an unlikeable character even in the first chapter. What else don't you like about him?

These were two very good reads. The stories explain very well, how many different people endured the tragedies that came along with war. You can learn many lessons from these two pieces of literature.
