After viewing the first part the "The Great Gatsby" movie, how do you think it compares to the first two chapters of the book.

i think the movie is very interesting, its puts in to perspective the charactors and will help me when i read the rest of the book. i think that it is a great idea to watch the movie while reading the book because then the reader can picture the time, the theme, the charactors.

In my opinion the movie was enjoyable to watch, and it also showed how life was in the past. It is good to know how things were, and the setting of the story. With the movie this helped to show the setting., and give off an image of what the characters look like, and how they act.

i think the movie was pretty good. It gave me an idea how the charaters express and how there personalities are. After reading a couple chapters it was a little hard to understand but then after watching the movie i was able to understand the parts i didn't quite get.

I thought that the movie was pretty intresting. It visual showed some of the things that not many would pick up on acutaly reading the book. Having the movie really helps decribe many things more clearly.

I think it does a good job of showing the characters actions. They seem very similar to the characters in the book. I think it also helped me to visualize each character better than I did when I read.

I think that the movie has done a good job so far with accuracy. I think all the characters fit there description, with an exeption to Tom however. The book described him as hulking. He was certainly tall, but he did not look very strong like he was described in the book.

I think that the book holds my interest more than the movie does because I enjoy creating the images of the characters. For instance, I thought of Tom to be a bigger man than he is portrayed in the movie. He seems to be slim and tall, but he does not look like a muscular person, as the book makes it sound.

I think that the movie was very good, and it was almost identical to the first two chapters. It elped me get a visual of the time the book is set in, and a good feel of the characters introduced chpater one and two. I really enjoyed the movie and look forward to finishing it.

The movie does a good job of showing the characters. Tom seems scrawnier than i imagined, but the other characters were right on. It helps to create a visual picture of whats going on while im reading.

I thought that the movie actually did a pretty nice job, compared with the book. It really helped me to get a more mental picture of the characters, rather than having to try and think them up myself. One comment I had though, was that I thought Tom would be a little bit bigger. The book described him as “hulking” and though he was tall, he was very skinny. Other than that though, I thought the movie really helped me to get the picture into my head.

I thought the "The Great Gatsby" was a little strange in the beginning of the book. But after watching the first couple chapter of the book in the movie, I could start to picture each character in their position in the movie. Also to see each individual personality and to see what they look like because I don't think book describes each one of them as good as when you see it in the movie. So the movie helped a lot to be able to understand the book better. Then I could picture the time period they were in called the roaring 20's with all the parties everybody has back then such as Gatsby parties every weekend.

In my opinion the movie and the book were very similar. The movie did a very good job of portraying the characters the way that I pictured them in the book. The only thing that I really noticed a difference had to do with Myrtle. In the book it makes her seem like she is a bigger type of woman. It talks about her being thicker but in the movie she was skinny. I did not picture her at all to look like what she did in the movie.

I think the movie did a great job so far showing this story. All of the acting is very good. I can see the setting of the story now which was difficult to picture when reading the novel.

To me, the movie was almost exactly like the book. It went right along with the first two chapters as I remembered them from reading them and writing the responses. I hope that the rest of the movie goes along with the book because it helps me have a better visualization of the story.

I have to agree with everyone on how the movie is interesting. However, when are movies not interesting. I am more interested in the movie but the only reason why I am is because I hate to read. I’m someone who can’t sit down and read for half an hour. The movie did cut out some scenes that are kind of important. One example would be when Nick got wasted and wandered into other family’s homes or apartments. Like Ross said on how the time of the movie and book is perfect. The reader can see what happens at a part that he might have been confused about. It’s also good to watch the movie at the same time as reading because we get to see what the character might look like or get the general idea. We get to see what type of closes they are wearing. An example of this would be when Tom, his girlfriend, and Nick are all at the party that Myrtle is hosting. We get to see what her dress looks like that everyone is commenting about. I look forward to watching this movie as the action starts to rise up more and more.

I think the movie is very good at portraying the book very well through the casting because all of the characters are very true to form and you can picture them in your mind very clearly. Also, the movie sticks to the book so far the movie added a couple of things to better help you comprehend the plot better. But the only thing about the movie is the whole time you're sitting there going who would be stupid enough to allow this to happen.

The movie in my opinion was a very good visualization of the book, but somewhat dissapointing. The characters were not what I expected, especially Tom Buchanan, he was described in the story as a big "hulking" man, when in the movie he was a little taller then Nick and he was somewhat thin. Myrtle in the movie was also described differently in the book, in the book she was described as short and stout, and in the movie she was very thin. Although everything else in the movie seemed very acurate and almost how I pictured it.

I enjoyed the first part of “The Great Gatsby” movie. I think, so far, the movie has stayed fairly true to the book. There is a possibility that it will take a turn and not follow the book that well at the end, but so far the movie is doing a good job of staying true to the book. I still like the book more because it is way more descriptive than the movie is or even could be.

I think the movie illustrates the book very well it compares very well to the characters more than anything. The characters are the same in the movie as in the book. The plot is also the same in the movie. It follows the plot very well. I like the movie its very interesting, I can't wait to watch more.

The movie goes along with the book very well. The movie did not leave out any important information or any important scenes. The movie helps me visualize the scenes better than in the book.

In my opinion, the movie and the book are extremely similar. The movie does a good job of depicting the different quarrels and relationships set in the book. All of the characters were very much like the mental picture I had developed in my head.

So far, I think that the movie is a pretty good imitation of the book. The characters are as descibed and the houses are just as I imagined. For example, Daisy was skiny as depicted in the novel and Tom was more of an athletic built. The film is very well put together.

I think that it is very interesting. But also there is a difference in when i read the book and what I saw in the movie. In the book i read it and it seems more serious. But in the movie to me its more comical and has more of a kick to it.

I guess the only thing I have to say is that anytime Mr. Dutrow says that the movie makes a good depiction of the book I will believe. The movie certainly does make a good resemblance to the book. All the actors and actresses are exactly like the characters in the book.

I think it shows the book well. Most of the characters look the way they are described in the book although tom is talk he's not as hulkish as depicted. It also helped us see what the time period looked like.
