Blogging Project Post #6

Personally, as I read Act III, I get more and more frustrated with how the court refuses to accept common sense and how they continue to put faith in the girls. What, in your mind, was the most rational evidence in Act III that the judges ignored?

I think the most rational piece of evidence was for when Cheever discovered a needle in a poppet. The needle was in the same spot as Abigail had put the needle in her side. This would be rasonable evidence because back then they believed in witchcraft so a needle in a poopet was concrete evidence that witchcraft was taking place.

I believe when the court was presented by Martha Corey with the petition of 91 names that had agreed to the fact that Rebecca Nurse and Elizabeth were both innocent was way beyond a reason to at least consider innocence.

Since the court is so single-minded and only think of themselves they cannot see that the girls are making everything up. Especially when they said they saw a yellow bird and no one else did, and even though the judges didn't see it, they still believed them without hesitation.

The most rational evidence in Act III that the judges ignored was the fact that Abigail said what she saw to the rest of the girls and the judges didn't even realize it. The judges also believed that the girls were being tortured by a little bird that wasn't even there.

The most frustrating part in this act for me personally was Martha Corey showing the petition full of names that had agreed upon the innocence of Rebecca and Elizabeth, and the Judges failed to realize the common sense and true reality of it.

I believe that the most rational evidence in act 3 is Ann Putnam blaming the woman she is jealous of of murder. The court should have known that someone will blame the person they hate of attacking them. Goody nurse is a well liked and respected woman, the court is willing to take the girls word over goody nurses and ninety-one signatures.

I think the most rational evidence would be the fact that the court believed Abigail when she saw a yellow bird near the roof that nobody else could see. This had to raise a few questions within the court but since the court will not listen they believe her.

I think that the most frustrating information that the judges ignored was when Abigail saw a little yellow bird in the rafters of the court house that only she could see. She acted like that bird was torturing her. The judges had so much faith in Abigail that they looked past the lies and believed everything she said.

I was really mad at the fact that the people in the story never came to their senses, even after the girls ran away with parris"s money after they started to feel the pressure from proctor. I think that the poeple of the town knew that the poeple weren't witches they just got rapped in the excitement of the court.

I think they were not thinking through their dicisions. They are puting the girls in a catagory in which they never lie. I think they over looked the whole "dancing in the woods" event. They didn't go through all of the evidnce and talk to all of the people involved.

In my believe that when Abigail said she saw a yellow bird and all the other girls did also, but no one in the court could see it was the most obvious piece of evidence. People must be pretty dumb to believe a group of girls saying they are witches and are seeing what no one else is seeing.

I think that believing a young girl and killing people because of their word is stupid. If there has not been any physical evidence to accuse someone of witchcraft how can someone be put to death? The only physical evidence they have is that Abigail pulled a needle out of her side which was in the same side as the poppet.

I believe that the most rational evidence in act three was when Abigail was in the court and said that she saw the bird in the corner on the ceiling that no one happened to see. And since they had no common sense you would think this would have a few questions behind it but knowing the court they didn't.

In act 3 the judges don't know anything. The judges miss a lot of things, such as they don't have any evidence that anyone is a witch. I think the most evidence that they have is the doll because that doll could have been used for voodoo or witchcraft. Other than the doll the judges don't have any other sort of real hard evidence thatany of the people in Salem are witches.

I believe that the biggest evidence that the people missed was Ann Putnam and Parris tried to throw people that they don't like instead of sticking to those who were guilty. They brought personal problems into the court and Cheever and Hathorne did not do anything to stop this they just agreed with Parris the whole time.

I think Act III was the funniest act because the judges' minds were so influenced with the girls, that they weren’t thinking of any kind of rational explanation for things that they were doing. The best example of this was when the girls were acting like they were being tortured by a bird that was flying around them. Nobody even saw the bird, and yet everyone believed the girls and didn’t question it even being there.

I totally agree with you about how the judge’s ignorance cost many people their lives my listening to the girls. Also the thing that was the most rational evidence that the judges ignored is when Abigail saw a little yellow bird in the window that no one else could see. The reason for this is that anybody can say that they can see something that no one else can see and you most likely can't believe them.

In Act III the most rational piece of evidence that the judges ignored was Mary Warren. She confessed that the girls were faking it and they believed the girls up until that point so why didn't thtey believe her when she confessed?

I believe that the most convincing evidence that the courts ignored was how Giles heard one of the girls talking to Mr. Putnam and he said that he was getting off what the girls were doing. This prove that some of the girls were helping people gain land and things they wanted in maybe the hopes that they would gain some of that as a reward for what they’re doing.

In Act 3 the most rational piece of evidence would have to be the petition with the 91 names on it brought in by Francis Nurse. This not only shows that Francis Nurse thinks this is wrong but 91 other people in town think it is wrong at the same time. But the court looks at this petition as a threat against them.

Mr. Dutrow basically summed up my feelings and views about everything that has occured up until ActIII. As a reader you want good things to happen, and you sort of hope that as you read more things totally get better. But as well made awared made of to everyone, The Crucible is no Cinderella story. Anyway not forgetting the question I believe that the best piece of evidence that the court blatantly dissmisses is, Martha Corey's petition containing over 90 signatures. That is ridiculous and everyone knows that a petition can not just be simply overlooked. Also I thought it was real foolish of the Judge to beleive that there could be this bird in the courtroom that only a certain amount of people can see.

The most frustrating part is how the judges only side with the girls. The don't take anything into consideration. Like the poppet. They believe in superstitions and believe that it always has to be witch craft.

In my mind, i agree with you Mr. Dutrow. They set aside simple common sense, and put religion forst. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but sometimes, common sense comes before religion with certain things. I also don't like all of the nasty, evil things Abigail's been doing. To me, she is the real witch. She does whatever she wants and gets away with it, because of her lying.

The most frustrating thing about this play is the ignorance of the judges. THey are willing to take the word of young immature girls, over all of the respectful citizens of Salem. The most rational peice of evidence is the fact that Rebecca Nurse is the most gentile, sensible, nurturing lady in the town and the girls accuse her of witchcraft. This is a no brainer that the girls are lying. Yet the judges refuse to believe Goody Proctor's, and everyone elses word. Another peice of evidence is when Marry Warren confessed in the court about how their witchcraft was a fake, the judges had to have seen the truth on her face.

The most frustrating part of Act III was when Abigail pretended to see a yellow bird in the court. The people of authority in the church were so easily persuaded and manipulated by Abigail that they believed everything that she said. They were simply unable to realize that she is a jealous liar who is making everything up as she goes. It was so frustrating to me that the court could be so easily fooled by such obvious lies and with no concrete evidence of any witchcraft taking place!

I think the most rational evidence that the judges ignored in act three was the fact that Abigail ran away. The court should have automatically seen that as she began to be questioned as to if she was a fraud or not she fled. This, to me, is a very obviouse sign that she is lying because she knows she is going to get caught in a lie so she runs away to avoid her punishment. This shows she is lying.

This is exactly way i think this play it ridiculous. To sit and watch people who believe little girls who are lying!!!! But the most rational piece of evidence that was ignored was when they said they saw a yellow bird when it was obvious there ws nothin there. HELLO THERE LYING!!!

I believe that there was alot of obvious evidence to why these people were innocent but the one the stuck out to me was the petition of 91 people. It may not sound like alot but the town isnt that big to begin with.

JP Kuhlman said...

i fell the most legitimate evidence that the judges left out was Elizabeth's testimony. In her testimony the reason they said her testimony was untrustworthy was because she did not want to say that her husband was guilty of lechery. However that is completely understandable. Even hale said that it is a natural lie to tell. surely the judges had to understand that but they still disregarded the evidence.

I think that when girls was in the court, and abigail was pretending abigail and the girls were pretending that mercy lewis was sending spirits on them, they stoped as soon as john proctor grabbed abigail and called her a whore. The judges knew that she was faking it but they wanted the town's people to believe that there are witches in Salem.

Troy Brodie said...

The most rational piece of evidence the judges ignored was the 91 names that declared innocence. How can you believe a few girls vs 91 names? The fact that they didn't question this was not smart on their part.

10jenglehart said...

The most rational evidence that they miss is that whenever someone trys to turn the girls in they do something that makes them believe in witchcraft. Also they seem to miss that all the troubles start with Abigail and then the others follow her. The last but not the least evidence was when they were in court, all the girls started to scream about a yellow bird on the rafters and yet again, all the comotion was led by Abigail.

Bobblogs said...

The most rational piec of evidence in act 3 was definetly when Abigail stated that she saw a yellow bird in the rafters and all of the girls followed. Obviously this is a big act that the girls are putting on and the fact that others in the court room are believing it is so frustrating.

Fgoodwin said...

To me the most rational piece that they overlooked was when they didnt listen to Procter when he called Abigail a Harlot and when they sent him to jail pretty much because his wife was protecting his name. They didnt realized this and didnt beleive Rev. Hale when he told them.

ElliottHyde said...

The most rational piece of evidence was the ninty-one people who signed saying they did not see any signs of the devil in any of the people locked up for witchcraft. Instead the judges had everyone who signed the paper arrested for questioning.

I agree with you Mr. Dutrow, I think it is very wrong that the judges to not pay any attetnion to common sense and are believing everything that the girls are saying. Many people did lose their lives because of how stubborn the court is about this situation. I think if the court would have listen to some of the people that they ignored that alot have people would still be alive.

I think that they didnt catch on to the fact that the girls waited until after one of the others girls leaded. Also that they all start ganging up on certain people in the villiage and not on people close to them.
